Lucky Duck Cider
Lucky Duck Cider is the brainchild of two Melbournian cider lovers - Colby and Shane. The pair were sipping on cider one rainy Friday when they decided that cider was their new game. With the help of a talented young winemaker from the Yarra Valley they spent 15 months developing their perfect cider.
Trial batches of different apples, yeast and slight tweaks in fermentation processes led to the final combination of Braeburn apples and ale yeast which gives Lucky Duck it's characteristic big bold flavour. The Braeburn apples provide the big apple bang that Duck fans rave about while the ale yeast provides the distinctive malty, "creaming soda" mouthfeel that sets Lucky Duck apart from other Australian ciders. Just two weeks after packaging their first batch in 2012, Lucky Duck took home its first pair of awards at the Microbreweries Showcase in Federation Square: Best Cider, and Best Cider Producer. They took the same awards again in 2013.
